ActivEdge CEO George Agu to Deliver Keynote at AfriTECH 5.0 on Africa’s Digital Independence

The organisers of the Africa Tech Alliance (AfriTECH) Forum have announced that George Agu, Managing Director of ActivEdge Technologies Limited, will deliver the keynote address at the 2026 edition of the event, themed “AI & Sovereign Tech: Building Africa’s Digital Independence.”

In a statement on Tuesday, the organisers said AfriTECH 5.0 will be held from January 30 to 31, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos. The event is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates from at least 10 countries, including global technology founders, enterprise leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators who will explore how artificial intelligence and indigenous technologies can strengthen Africa’s digital self-reliance.

Agu, a seasoned technology executive with more than 25 years of experience, has built an impressive career across core banking systems, fintech, cybersecurity, enterprise automation, and AI-driven e-government platforms.

He began his career as a software developer at CSA Nigeria in 2000 before joining Neptune Software, where he rose to become Managing Director/CEO for West Africa. At Neptune, he oversaw the Equinox and Orbit core-banking platforms, with the latter earning the top global ranking in microfinance core banking by CGAP in Washington, DC.

Following this, Agu founded ActivEdge Technologies, a pan-African systems integration company providing solutions in cybersecurity, governance, cloud computing, and core infrastructure across six African countries. He also established PayEdge, a fintech platform tackling MSME liquidity and supply-chain finance issues, and Introspec, a reconciliation system adopted by banks in over 15 African nations. His latest innovation, HarmonyEdge, is an AI-powered e-government solution that supports digital workflows, citizen engagement, and analytics.

Speaking ahead of the event, AfriTECH co-convener Chike Onwuegbuchi described Agu as “a seasoned technology visionary whose work embodies the spirit of African innovation and digital self-reliance.”

Onwuegbuchi said Agu’s keynote would highlight how AI and sovereign technologies can redefine digital transformation across both public and private sectors in Africa.

The forum enjoys the support of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), with Digital Encode Limited as the Platinum Sponsor. Gold sponsors include Galaxy Backbone, itel, Digital Realty, ActivEdge Technologies, Tecom, Tizel Cybersecurity, AfriGoPay Financial Services Limited, and SKOT Communications, among other ecosystem partners.

Co-convener David Ogebe said AfriTECH provides a platform for Africa to showcase homegrown technologies and deepen collaboration among innovators, investors, and policymakers. His fellow co-convener, Glory Olamigoke, added that the conference would feature policy dialogues, product showcases, and networking sessions to connect tech talent with emerging opportunities.

AfriTECH 5.0 aims to advance Africa’s digital independence by spotlighting indigenous innovation, fostering investments, and promoting responsible AI adoption to shape the continent’s technological future.
