Public Voting Opens for 8th .ng Awards as NiRA Marks 20th Anniversary

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the official registry for the country’s .ng domain, has announced the commencement of public voting for the 8th edition of the .ng Awards, featuring 88 nominees across 19 categories.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, NiRA said voting began on October 31, 2025, and will run for 20 days, closing at midnight on November 19, 2025.

The annual .ng Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have leveraged the .ng domain to strengthen Nigeria’s digital presence and promote the country’s online ecosystem.

NiRA President, Adesola Akinsanya, said this year’s edition holds special significance as it coincides with the association’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of innovation and leadership in Nigeria’s internet space.

“The 8th edition of the .ng Awards is a celebration of progress and innovation within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” Akinsanya stated. “Each nominee represents the growing trust, relevance, and adoption of the .ng domain across industries.”

The 2025 nomination process, which was open to the public for 15 days, produced nominees across categories such as Most Innovative Service Provider Online, Best Banking Website/Portal, Best E-payment Website, .ng FinTech Company of the Year, Best E-commerce Website, Best Tertiary Institution Website, and Digital Innovation in State and Federal Government.

Chair of the .ng Awards Committee, Peter Oluka, congratulated all shortlisted nominees, noting that their inclusion highlights their vital role in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy.

“We congratulate all 88 shortlisted nominees for their continuous contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s digital space through the .ng domain,” Oluka said. “This year’s Awards carry even greater meaning as we celebrate two decades of NiRA’s excellence and reflect on the evolution of the .ng domain as a key pillar of our national digital identity.”

The Awards comprise two major segments the General Awards, which include 19 categories open to public voting, and the Presidential Awards, conferred directly by NiRA’s leadership to recognise outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s internet growth.

NiRA’s Chief Operating Officer, Oluwaseyi Onasanya, emphasised that the Awards underscore NiRA’s mission to promote the .ng domain as the foundation of Nigeria’s digital identity.

“The .ng Awards reflect NiRA’s broader mission of showcasing the .ng domain as the foundation of Nigeria’s digital identity,” Onasanya said. “They recognise excellence, innovation, and the organisations that are helping to shape a more inclusive digital future.”

Winners will be determined through NiRA’s evaluation process after the voting phase, with results to be announced at the .ng Awards Night scheduled for December 2025.
