NCC to Host Inaugural Digital Awareness Forum to Bridge Nigeria’s Tech Divide

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of its Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora, a new initiative aimed at advancing inclusive policies and innovation in Nigeria’s digital economy.

Scheduled for 13 November 2025, the event will be held under the theme, “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment.” It will convene policymakers, industry leaders, academia, and development partners to discuss strategies for bridging the country’s growing digital divide.

According to NCC’s Head of Public Affairs, Nnenna Ukoha, the forum will focus on four critical areas: inclusive digital policy design, equitable infrastructure deployment, adaptive digital literacy, and access to affordable digital services.

“Nigeria is home to one of Africa’s youngest populations 60% under 25. This represents an immense opportunity for digital transformation, and we must ensure no one is left behind,” Ukoha stated.

The event is jointly supported by key partners including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), FintechNGR, National Council of Women Societies, Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), KOICA, Terra Industries, and Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).

Participants will engage in panel discussions and exhibitions showcasing innovations from fintech startups, student inventors, and local tech firms. The event will also be livestreamed nationwide via scf.ncc.gov.ng, ensuring nationwide participation.

The NCC said the initiative is part of its broader commitment to digital equity, empowerment, and inclusion, ensuring that Nigeria’s underserved and rural communities have a fair chance to participate in the country’s growing digital economy.
