IHS Nigeria has launched a values-driven outreach programme at Ifesowapo Aboru Secondary School in Ipaja, Lagos, as part of activities commemorating the 2024 International Men’s Day, aiming to inspire young students through conversations on leadership, responsibility, mental health, respect and gender equity.
The digital infrastructure company said the initiative was designed to engage boys at a formative stage and equip them with the values and mindset needed for positive personal development.
Welcoming the IHS Nigeria team, the school’s Director and Principal, Giwa Muyideen, praised the company’s sustained commitment to youth development.
“We are deeply honoured to have IHS Nigeria here to commemorate International Men’s Day with us. We thank them for what they have done, what they continue to do, and what they will yet do for our school and community,” he said. He also encouraged students to pursue careers in STEM, describing science and technology as drivers of national growth.
Associate Director, Legal, Gbenga Bello, said the company deliberately chose a school environment to speak to boys at a critical stage of character formation.
“International Men’s Day reminds us of the role men and boys play in building stronger, more compassionate societies. At IHS Nigeria, we believe that empowering young minds through education, mentorship and value-based conversations is one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute to our community,” he said.
The programme featured two core sessions: an interactive discussion and a mentorship dialogue.
The interactive session, led by Associate Director, Human Resources, Morakinyo Fadipe, encouraged students to reflect on decision-making, self-discipline and respect. He stressed that choices made in adolescence often shape long-term outcomes and that leadership begins with empathy and everyday actions.
The mentorship dialogue, facilitated by Senior Specialist, Human Resources, Adepoju Adebusayo, focused on resilience, sound judgement and modelling positive behaviour. Drawing from personal experiences, he reminded students that challenges are integral to growth and that perseverance remains key to long-term achievement.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Principal Muyideen, who commended IHS Nigeria for its “reliable and consistent support,” saying the school values its partnership with the company and looks forward to further collaboration to improve the learning environment.
The outreach is one of several community development initiatives run by IHS Nigeria, aimed at supporting schools, promoting gender balance and nurturing leadership skills among young Nigerians.
